 The Reading CASLLS includes three instruments in one booklet, each covering a discrete developmental level in the domains of book handling/print concepts, alphabetic system/phonological awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. Early Literacy is the first instrument and follows the development of early reading skills typically achieved by infants and toddlers from birth to 36 months. Pre-Reading is the second instrument and is designed for use with children with a developmental age of 36 – 60 months. Learning to Read is the third instrument and follows the development of reading skills as formal reading instruction begins in elementary school, from kindergarten through the end of third grade.
