The Illinois Braille Series is a classic program used to teach braille to former print readers. The new editions are embossed in standard-size braille. Both books accommodate the beginner with special formats, including double spacing to aid development of efficient hand movement.
Book One
Book One of the series presents the symbols necessary for reading and writing uncontracted braille, including letters, numbers and punctuation marks. It uses raised print letters to introduce braille letters and tracking guidelines to assist the new reader. There are practice activities, writing drills, and a variety of interesting reading selections.
Book One presents the symbols of uncontracted braille in one volume; Book Two presents contracted braille in accordance with UEB order in two volumes. Administrators must purchase both a print and braille version.
